Monday's Musings: Seeing the Big Picture in Life

by Mary Denman   @MaryDenman

There are times when we can't see the big picture in life.

We can only see what's right in front of us. If we feel like we've made a mistake, we may have guilt or regret over the decisions that got us there.

I know. I've been there.

But recently, I had my eyes opened to see that God is working things out when I think I screwed up.

Photo Tip Friday: Taking Food Pictures in a Restaurant

by Mary Denman    @MaryDenman

Many bloggers who write about food love to take pictures for their blogs. Too, many people love to upload photos and reviews of their experience to sites like Trip Advisor.

But food photography in a restaurant can be a challenge.

Today's tips are designed to help you understand what to do to improve your food photography.

Let's get started.

Photo Tip Friday: Using Water to Create Interesting Photos

by Mary Denman    @MaryDenman

In photography, one medium that I really love to explore is water. There are so many interesting properties to it that can create such varied results.

Water is easy to find. You can go in your kitchen and turn on the faucet, go to the beach or find a river. Puddles are available after a rain.

Why do I enjoy water photography?

Because it changes. Water can be still or moving. Green or brown. Clear or reflective.

There is always something unique or different when you start photographing a body of water.

Let's look some examples.

Monday's Musings: Do you have Courage or Fearlessness?

by Mary Denman    @MaryDenman

For the past month or so, I've been really thinking about what I want to do differently this year than last year.

Last year, I focused  on my daughter and her knee surgeries. She's finally on the other side of all the surgeries and getting stronger. She's been accepted to the university of her choice and her life is finally moving forward in a great way. I'm grateful this chapter of our lives is closing. So is she!

She needed my attention and I'm happy I could be there for her. But now it's time to shift my focus and energy. I willingly put other things on the back burner for her. It's exciting to move forward as my daughter does as well.

Because I put some things on the back burner for several months, like my writing, photography and blogging, I've had a chance to evaluate life without them. To think about how to get started again. To consider where to put my priorities going forward.

These are some shots from my trip to Belfort, France from 2015.
The city lights up the church and it's really striking.

Enjoy!

We went to my son Luke's last college swim meet at his home pool.
He set the record in the mile.
It was exciting to be there.
He even had his own cheering section!
