Photo Tip Friday: What to do with all your Photos

Photo Tips
Once you've been taking pictures for a while, whether it's months or years, you may start wondering what to do with all the photos you've taken.

While this may first make you think of storage and organization solutions, I'm talking about putting your shots to good use.

Today's photography tip is seeing how many different ways you can use your photos for both yourself and for others.

If you think of your shots as a way to bless others, it's more fun to figure out how to put them to good use!

Let's get started:

TIP 1: Create photo books and gifts for both yourself and others with your pictures!
This is easily done online. Most places that allow you to upload photos for printing offer lots of opportunity to create gifts. You can put prized pictures on blankets, mugs, mouse pads or on canvases.

Who can you give these to? Your kids, parents, grandparents, friends, or teachers.

TIP 2: Create memes with your photography.
This involves adding text to your photo. My favorite place to do this is PicMonkey

You upload your photo, then add the text how and where you want it. You can choose your font, colors, add borders, make the photo black & white or do lots of other things to both the picture and the text.

These are great for people to share on social media. Create them to look beautiful and fit the specs of the social media you want it shared on.

TIP 3: Create a calendar with your photos. I have done this for several years now. I use photos from the previous year and pick a theme. One year was waterfalls and flowers. Another was mostly based on our trip to Italy. You could make one based on your pets or family.

TIP 4: Use them on your blog!
My brother once asked what I do with all my shots. He couldn't comprehend that I had a use for so many.

They serve as inspiration and teaching aids.

TIP 5: Share your pictures with others. Be generous.
This may seem pretty vague, but when I first attended Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference, I took pictures just for myself. Once I attended again, I couldn't help but take more and more shots. It's a beautiful campus and a great conference.

One day, I was showing a few photos from the back of my camera to the conference co-director as we walked. He really liked them and wanted to see more. Then, he asked me to put them up on the Blue Ridge Facebook page.

From there, I started doing head shots and became the conference photographer.

Because I GAVE them away first.

So, what do you do with all those shots you've taken? Share them, one way or another.

Do you have any other ideas for using your photography to bless others?

Hope these tips help!

  1. Mine are all sitting on my phone. Some get placed on FB. Not like the olden days when I made photo albums.

  3. I have soooo many photos on my camera and phone which need organising. I think I was better off in the old days developing films and organising pics into albums. I like the photo book idea.

  4. I have done some of these ideas with my photos and I have wanted to make a calendar for a long time. What have you used for getting a calendar printed? Everything I have researched is too expensive. I wanted to be able to sell them and use the money for a charity.

    1. Hi Barbara. I've made calendars through Snapfish, Walmart and Apple. Apple absolutely has the best quality I've found. But it isn't cheap. So I do calendars as gifts for my family at Christmas. Wish I could help more but I haven't found a way to get a price point with good quality that I could sell.

      But thanks for dropping by!

  5. I didn't know about creating memes. I will try that. My daughters make me calendars with my grandchildren's photos but I never thought of creating one with my photos. Thanks for the great ideas.
