Photo Tip Friday: Tips for Taking Great Mother's Day Photos

Throughout the year, we have very special holidays to celebrate those we love. 

In the US, Mother's Day is this Sunday, 8 May 2016. 

Often, that means family get togethers with mom. It's an opportunity to photograph your loved ones and document your time spent together. 

So today's tips are designed to help you record Mother's Day and other special family get togethers! 

Let's get started. 

Monday's Musings (on Tuesday) - Learning to Live Again After a Loss

Last Mother's Day, I was in shock. My mother had passed away two weeks prior. I was numb, trying to comprehend that she was gone. 

This year, I wasn't in shock. The emotions of missing her threatened to overwhelm me. It's hard to keep living when someone you love so dearly is gone. 

But we had planned a vacation right after we got our son home from college, before he started work for the summer. We planned a trip to the beach. Over Mother's Day weekend.

I'm really glad we did, even though it was bittersweet. 

But I learned a great lesson. 

Wordless Wednesday - Mom

I'm back.  

My husband and I recently went to Italy for our 25th wedding anniversary. I have some amazing pictures to post in weeks to come.

But for today, I want to share with you the most beautiful woman in the world to me.

 

My mom...

I wish you could have known her. Her beauty was inside and out!

Sadly, she passed away while my husband and I were traveling. But my wonderful family held vigil with Daddy at the hospital after shooing us out of the hospital to go on our long planned trip.

Her service was touching.

She was the most awesome mom I could ever have had.

Mom, I will miss you dearly.

But I know you're dancing in heaven. No more pain. I'm happy for you.

I will love you always.
