Monday's Musings - May God Bless You

by Mary Denman

@MaryDenman

I pray for you, my readers, today,
That you will feel God's love.

That you will know he cares for you,
No matter what you do.

I pray for you, my readers, today,
That you will see God's hand.

That you will know he is at work,
To make you understand.

How deep his love,
How long he'll wait,
How patient he can be.

Until we turn to him and say,
"Why love the likes me?"

No matter where you are in life,
Through trials or suffering.

Or maybe life is good and grand,
A place of sweet reprieve.

It matters not.
He's always there.
Ready to show his love.

And as he walked with me this year,
Through challenges galore,

I pray for you, my readers, today,
That his love will bless you more.

That you will be amazed and touched,
That your spirit will just soar.

On winds of love and blessings,
And wings of strength and peace,
And with a joy of what's to come,
Your past has been redeemed.

Thank you for walking with me through the hardest year of my life. God keeps me going, giving me the strength for each new day.

My heartfelt prayer is that he blesses each of you as much as you have blessed me.

And that's a lot! :)

Love,
Mary

Photo Tip Friday: Taking Night Time Shots: Part 2 - After the Sun Sets

by Mary Denman

@MaryDenman

Welcome back for photography tips. A lot of people find taking night time shots to be very difficult. The images end up too dark, too grainy or blurry. So how do you take better night time photos? I'm glad you asked.

Let's get started. The quickest way to improve your shots is to under the sensitivity of the "film". Back in the print film days, you could buy an ISO of 64 for slides, then ISO 100 for bright daylight, 200-400 for indoor shots and then 800-1600 ISO for dim lighting photography.

(You can also read last week's post here.)

One of the great advancements of digital cameras is that you can change the ISO on your camera from one shot to another. Back in the film days, unless you had two cameras, you were stuck with the ISO that was in the camera until you finished the roll.

Monday's Musings - Playing in the Moonlight

by Mary Denman

When I was very little, no one had to tell me to play. No one had to tell my siblings either. We knew how to have fun, run around, fight with sticks, climb trees. Sing like we were good!

Mom and dad would have to call us in some nights. We just wanted to keep playing.

But as we grew, we would get bored and complain there was nothing to do. Sometimes, mom would take us for a walk.

And on these walks, she taught us the excitement of learning, of discovering. We were thrilled when we found a new bug or a piece of petrified wood. We'd pay attention to the bird calls. Find flowers in cracks in the road.

Photo Tip Friday: Taking Night Time Shots: Part 1 - Fireworks

By Mary Denman

Today's photography tip is learning how to take firework pictures. They are so much fun to watch but can be very frustrating when you're trying to take pictures of them. We all have the blurry ones.

But once we go back over some of the basics, you'll be better armed to get some great shots.

Let's get started.

The first thing you need to remember is the ISO or sensitivity of the film.
(Here is a link to a prior post on Time Value and ISO.)

What does this mean?
